Paris, France, June 17, 2025 – De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (De Havilland Canada) is pleased to share significant progress in its OEM Refurbishment Program, delivering on its commitment to ‘keep the fleet flying’ with OEM refurbished and upgraded Dash 8 aircraft, equipped with the engineering excellence and operational versatility that De Havilland Canada’s aircraft is known for. The program continues to drive innovation in the regeneration of rugged, multi-role utility Dash 8 aircraft.

Launched in 2023 and announced at the Farnborough Airshow in 2024, DHC’s OEM Refurbishment Program sees aircraft go through refurbishment and upgrade programs before being delivered to operators and lessors with the intent of seeing these aircraft continue to fly for many years to come.

De Havilland Canada’s Dash 8 aircraft are well-known for their ruggedness, long-service life, unique performance capabilities and market leading operating economics.  The De Havilland Canada OEM Refurbishment Program extends the operational life of the Dash 8 aircraft and meet the needs of current and future customers of DHC.

Program Highlights:

  • Since launching the program, DHC has invested in more than 40 Dash 8 airframes with the intention to return them back into service.
  • DHC has delivered 13 refurbished Dash 8’s to nine different operators.
  • DHC has an additional 12 aircraft sold and undergoing refurbishment to meet the demand of our global customers.
  • Unrelated to the refurbishment program, DHC is delivering three new, modified Dash 8-400 aircraft to the SkyAlyne consortium to be introduced into the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) by the Government of Canada. These are stored production aircraft that will be modified into a special mission configuration.
  • DHC is now expanding the program to offer refurbishment of Dash 8-100, Dash 8-200 and Dash 8-300 aircraft and can also offer these aircraft with the Extended Service Program (ESP) or ESP+ life extensions and new avionics installations.

“We are proud of the momentum behind our Refurbishment Program and the confidence shown by our stakeholders,” said Brian Chafe, CEO of De Havilland Canada. “This aircraft is engineered to meet the real-world challenges faced by operators every day, whether in high frequency airline service or in specialized operations in remote regions such as in the Canadian North..”
