July 22, 2026 (Farnborough, United Kingdom) — De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (“De Havilland Canada”) today announced that its Twin Otter Re-Life Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) programs are now available to operators worldwide, providing new factory-supported options to extend the service life of DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft.

Following the acquisition of the Re-Life STCs, De Havilland Canada worked closely with Transport Canada to complete the transfer and validation of the programs and has now integrated them into its aftermarket product portfolio.

The Re-Life STC programs provide approved life-extension solutions for key structural components, helping operators maximize the value of their aircraft, support continued safe and reliable operations, and better plan long-term fleet maintenance.

“De Havilland Canada has invested significant effort to validate these STCs to the standards customers expect from an original equipment manufacturer,” said Rob Mobilio, Chief Commercial Officer at De Havilland Canada. “By making these Re-Life programs available directly through our Aftermarket program, we’re giving operators access to factory-supported life-extension solutions that help protect their investment and keep Twin Otter aircraft flying for years to come.”

The Re-Life STC portfolio now offered by De Havilland Canada includes:

  • Wing Box – Extends the wing box service life by replacing key structural components, adding up to 33,000 flight hours or 66,000 flight cycles.
  • Flight Controls – Extends the service life of the flaps, ailerons, rudder, and elevators by replacing critical structural components, adding up to 66,000 flight hours or 132,000 flight cycles.
  • Engine Nacelles – Replaces the engine nacelles with STC-approved components, extending their service life to 45,000 flight hours or 90,000 flight cycles.
  • Fuselage, Horizontal Stabilizer, and Vertical Stabilizer – Extends the service life of the fuselage, horizontal stabilizer, and vertical stabilizer by replacing critical structural components, adding up to 66,000 flight hours or 132,000 flight cycles.

The first Flight Controls Re-Life STC sold by De Havilland Canada is expected to be incorporated later this year.

The airline increases its participation in the industry-leading aircraft life extension program, bringing its total commitment to 14 aircraft.

July 20, 2026 (Farnborough, United Kingdom) — De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (“De Havilland Canada”) today announced that Widerøe has added four more Dash 8-100 aircraft to its Extended Service Program PLUS (ESP+) agreement.

Widerøe became the launch customer for ESP+ in 2022, initially enrolling 10 aircraft with options for an additional 10. With this latest commitment, the airline has now confirmed 14 aircraft in the program.

ESP+ extends the service life of the Dash 8-100 from 120,000 to 160,000 flight cycles, giving it the longest flight-cycle life of any commercial aircraft.

“We’re delighted to continue building on our long-standing relationship with Widerøe through the expansion of the ESP+ program,” said Rob Mobilio, Chief Commercial Officer for De Havilland Canada. “Widerøe has been a leader in the adoption of this program from the beginning, and we’re proud to support them as they continue to maximize the value and service life of their Dash 8-100 fleet.”

Widerøe has operated the Dash 8 family for decades, connecting communities across Norway in some of the world’s most demanding operating environments.

New maintenance program will allow Widerøe’s Dash 8-400 aircraft to spend more time flying and less time in maintenance.

July 20, 2026 (Farnborough, United Kingdom) — De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (“De Havilland Canada”) today announced that Widerøe, Scandinavia’s largest regional airline, has signed an agreement to implement De Havilland Canada’s new Dash 8-400 A-Check Escalation Program across its fleet of 17 aircraft.

Under the agreement, Widerøe will become the first Dash 8-400 operator to adopt the new maintenance program, which extends the interval between scheduled A-Checks from 800 to 1,200 flight hours. By reducing the number of routine maintenance inspections required, the program allows aircraft to spend more time in service while maintaining the highest standards of safety and airworthiness.

Implementation of the program is now underway and is expected to be completed over the next 12 months.

The longer maintenance interval will help Widerøe reduce aircraft downtime, increase fleet availability, and lower the labour and material costs associated with scheduled maintenance.

“We’re continually looking for ways to help our customers improve fleet performance,” said Rob Mobilio, Chief Commercial Officer for De Havilland Canada. “This new program will reduce maintenance costs and allow operators to spend less time in the hangar and more time in the air, while maintaining the high safety and reliability standards the Dash 8 is known for. We’re pleased that Widerøe is leading the way as our launch customer.”

De Havilland Canada’s confidence in the program builds on its longstanding relationship with Widerøe. In 2021, the two companies successfully introduced similar maintenance interval extensions for Widerøe’s Dash 8-100, -200 and -300 aircraft, increasing the time between both A-Checks and C-Checks while maintaining the same high standards of safety and reliability.

The agreement reflects De Havilland Canada’s ongoing commitment to developing practical maintenance solutions that help operators improve fleet availability, reduce operating costs, and maximize the value of their Dash 8 aircraft.

]]> Paris, France, June 17, 2025 – De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (De Havilland Canada) is pleased to share significant progress in its OEM Refurbishment Program, delivering on its commitment to ‘keep the fleet flying’ with OEM refurbished and upgraded Dash 8 aircraft, equipped with the engineering excellence and operational versatility that De Havilland Canada’s aircraft is known for. The program continues to drive innovation in the regeneration of rugged, multi-role utility Dash 8 aircraft. 

Launched in 2023 and announced at the Farnborough Airshow in 2024, DHC’s OEM Refurbishment Program sees aircraft go through refurbishment and upgrade programs before being delivered to operators and lessors with the intent of seeing these aircraft continue to fly for many years to come.   

De Havilland Canada’s Dash 8 aircraft are well-known for their ruggedness, long-service life, unique performance capabilities and market leading operating economics.  The De Havilland Canada OEM Refurbishment Program extends the operational life of the Dash 8 aircraft and meet the needs of current and future customers of DHC. 

Program Highlights: 

  • Since launching the program, DHC has invested in more than 40 Dash 8 airframes with the intention to return them back into service. 
  • DHC has delivered 13 refurbished Dash 8’s to nine different operators. 
  • DHC has an additional 12 aircraft sold and undergoing refurbishment to meet the demand of our global customers. 
  • Unrelated to the refurbishment program, DHC is delivering three new, modified Dash 8-400 aircraft to the SkyAlyne consortium to be introduced into the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) by the Government of Canada. These are stored production aircraft that will be modified into a special mission configuration. 
  • DHC is now expanding the program to offer refurbishment of Dash 8-100, Dash 8-200 and Dash 8-300 aircraft and can also offer these aircraft with the Extended Service Program (ESP) or ESP+ life extensions and new avionics installations.

April 11, 2025 (Calgary, AB) – De Haviland Canada (DHC) is pleased to announce the extension of a contract with Antavia AMETEK for the maintenance (Repair Overhaul) of the CL215, 215T and 415 landing gear system worldwide. This contract, officially signed this week at De Havilland Canada’s All Operators conference in Calgary, Alberta, is valid for three years, with a potential extension for an additional two years.

Antavia’s experience allows for quick assessment of issues and responses to deliver critical repair or replacement of parts. They are a dedicated landing gear workshop offering short turnaround time and high-quality work. The addition of Antavia’s expertise in supporting waterbomber customers will help keep critical emergency response fleets flying, ensuring that DHC aircraft can ‘get the job done’ around the globe.

April 9, 2025 (Calgary, AB) – De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (“De Havilland Canada”) and 3 Points Aviation Corp. (“3 Points”) are pleased to announce that a final agreement was signed today to address replacement part supply chain challenges with the signing of an agreement that will deliver parts solutions for DHC customers.

For Part Design Approval (PDA) and Part Manufacturer Approval (PMA) replacement parts currently being produced by 3 Points, De Havilland Canada (DHC) has signed an agreement to provide OEM approved data to ensure that 3 Points has the access and knowledge necessary to produce replacement parts for DHC customers. With this agreement in place, DHC fully supports the use of PDA/PMA replacement parts manufactured by 3 Points for use on DHC approved type designs.

DHC and 3 Points will provide regular updates to our customers about alternate part solution availability to ensure that this collaboration delivers additional cost-effective solutions for our Dash 8 Customers.

April 8, 2025 (Calgary, AB) – De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC) today announced that it has launched the development of a new avionics solution for the Dash 8-100 and 200 aircraft.  With our partner Universal Avionics, a new customized Universal InSight avionics suite is now under development and will be available for customers wishing to upgrade their aircraft.

“We are pleased to introduce an upgraded avionics suite for our Dash 8-100 and 200 customers,” said Jean-Philippe Cote, Vice President of Programs and Business Improvement for De Havilland Canada. “This upgrade will ensure that these rugged and reliable aircraft will be flying for many years to come.”

In cooperation with our partners Universal Avionics and JANA Inc., DHC is developing an avionics upgrade that will increase navigational capabilities and improve safety by providing improved situational awareness for pilots, making it an excellent solution for current operators. The certification of the new avionics’ solution is anticipated to be obtained in the first half of 2026. Widerøe’s Flyveselskap AS will be the launch customer for the upgrade program.

Universal’s InSight flight display system installation on the Dash 8 adds five high-resolution LCD displays with improved synthetic vision and digital engine indication, replacing aging CRT equipment to remove unnecessary weight making this an upgrade a significant improvement over the current avionics suite.

“Partnering with Universal Avionics to upgrade our Dash 8-100 & 200 aircraft reinforces De Havilland Canada’s commitment to investing in the fleet and delivering modernized and reliable solutions to our customers. The new avionics provides a good solution to replace components difficult to replace and repair,” said Cote. “This solution is part of our overall goal as a company to keep our existing fleet flying.”

Farnborough, United Kingdom, July 23, 2024 – Today, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (De Havilland Canada) announced that Zimex Aviation (Zimex) has signed a Purchase Agreement that makes them the launch customer for the newly certified Garmin Avionics packages to upgrade their Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft.  This order of four upgrade kits, offered through our partnership with Aerocorp Avionics Solutions, will be delivered to Zimex in the second half of the year.

Zimex is a long-term customer of De Havilland Canada, having ordered two new DHC Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft at the Paris Airshow in 2023, which are on-schedule to be delivered in 2025.

“Zimex and De Havilland Canada have a relationship that goes back decades, and we are pleased that they have chosen to upgrade their Twin Otters with new avionics suites,” said Ryan DeBrusk, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for De Havilland Canada.  “The team at DHC cannot wait to deliver these advanced avionics system upgrades to Zimex.”

The certification of the upgrades was completed in June 2024.  This will be followed by autopilot certification anticipated in early 2025.

Farnborough, United Kingdom, July 22, 2024 – De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (De Havilland Canada) is pleased to announce an agreement with Advantage Air Travel Limited to supply a Quick Change (QC) freighter kit to support the airline’s business program by providing flexibility for their upcoming Dash 8-400 operation. Designed to offer operational flexibility, these cargo conversion solutions enhance the overall value and extend the high revenue-generating capabilities of the Dash 8-400 aircraft.

“The cargo market is a growing opportunity for airlines looking for solutions to enhance the revenue-generating capabilities of the Dash 8-400 aircraft,” said Ryan DeBrusk, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for De Havilland Canada. “De Havilland Canada’s Quick Change program offers a Transport Canada approved cargo conversion that will provide the flexibility desired by the airline and will ensure Advantage Air’s continue success.”

In 2022, De Havilland Canada announced the launch of the Quick Change cargo conversion solution for the Dash 8-400 aircraft to address operational needs for a variety of business models. Known worldwide for its low cost of operation and exceptional performance and reliability in airline and special mission operations, the Dash 8-400 aircraft’s rugged design also positions it exceedingly well for cargo operations.

The Quick Change solution is a revenue expansion model that offers flexibility to convert Dash 8-400 aircraft between all-passenger and all-cargo operations/configurations combining two income streams for operators and expanding revenue base opportunities. The short time required to switch configurations allows operators to adapt to market dynamics, and the installation of smoke detection systems in the cabin eliminates the need for attendants while in cargo operation.

Farnborough, United Kingdom, July 22, 2024 – In 2018, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (then Viking Air) announced a program to convert and upgrade previously used CL-215 aircraft into the CL-415 Enhanced Aerial Firefighter. To date, nine aircraft have been upgraded with the remaining two to be completed.

Building on the success of this program, and in keeping with our commitment to “keep the fleet flying,” De Havilland Canada (DHC) is pleased to announce a similar program for the Dash 8 fleet. DHC has actively been acquiring aircraft in the marketplace and has begun upgrading these aircraft for delivery to customers looking to expand their fleets or become Dash 8 customers for the first time.

The De Havilland Canada OEM Certified Refurbishment Program is a program whereby DHC acquires, upgrades, and re-markets the aircraft for each specific customers’ needs. Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) work will take place at our facilities in Calgary, Alberta.

Refurbishments offered include:

  • Aircraft configuration to match the customer’s existing fleet
  • Completion of overdue maintenance, integration of Airworthiness Directives, and Service Bulletin upgrades
  • Airframe life extensions through our ESP (Extended Service Plan) to extend the lives of Dash 8-100/200/300 to 120,000 cycles, or the ESP+ which can take the Dash 8-100 to 160,000 cycles
  • Freighter conversions, including the introduction of the new Dash 8-400 Large Cargo Door and Quick Change between cargo and passenger missions
  • Avionics upgrades

To date, De Havilland Canada has acquired 28 Dash 8-400 aircraft for the program.

De Havilland Canada’s Dash 8 aircraft are well known for their ruggedness, long service life, unique performance capabilities, and market leading operating economics. The DHC OEM Certified Refurbishment Program will extend the operational life of these aircraft and meet the needs of current and future customers of DHC.

Following today’s announcement of De Havilland Canada’s roadmap of the future of the Dash 8, this new program supports our customer’s need to grow or renew their Dash 8 fleets while we work on our production plans for the future through DHC’s Product Strategy Council.
